Please join me and the rest of the FTG Board in congratulating Piotr Dworczak and Chaojun Wang, both from Stanford University, for being the 2017 co-winners of the best paper in finance theory on the job market this past year. Since both recipients received exactly the same number of votes, the board decided to make them joint winners of the first prize. As such, there is no runner-up prize for this year. Instead, the combined value of the first and runner-up prizes will be split equally between them. The papers that won them the award are:

  • “Mechanism Design with Aftermarkets: Cutoff Mechanisms” by Piotr Dworczak
  • “Core-Periphery Trading Networks” by Chaojun Wang
Piotr is joining the economics department at Northwestern University, and Chaojun is joining the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.  Both have been invited to join the FTG. Best, Philip (on behalf of the FTG board: Christine, Marcus, Martin, Ohad, and Philip)
